This is your chance to walk around with the author of Trees, shrubs, and Woody Vines of Louisiana (Dr. Charles M. Allen) and see and learn woody plants firsthand. Poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac will be seen plus many other trees, shrubs, and woody vines. Tables full of labeled plants will also be spread out for you to look at, photograph, learn the best recognizing features, crush and smell, test your id skills, etc. There will also be plant samples that you may take with you. You will be exposed to more than 100 species of woody plants. All are welcome including children. Pre-registration requested.

The schedule:

8 AM:Begin walking tour. Will see 50 or more woody plant species
10 AM:Inside presentation of trees/shrubs/woody vines with labeled plants. Expect to see more than 100 different species of woody plants.
12 Noon:Test Time; check your woody plant id skills. Ask questions etc. Also inside.
12:30 PM:(Optional) Susan’s Chinese food (Donations accepted).
